The Results You Can Expect from Your Penis Enlargement Efforts

One particular falsehood that just about every site dedicated to the subject of penis enlargement likes to propagate is that you’ll find adding a couple of extra inches to your favourite organ a miraculously quick and easy task. Within a couple of weeks (they promise with their money back guarantees or five star reviews) you’ll be happily parading your newly improved member in front of whoever you were afraid to show it off to before.

To buck the trend, I’ll tell you the truth from the outset…whether you opt for surgery or the natural alternatives of exercise or traction, there’s no quick route to a bigger penis.

What's with all the hype?

Those who market the various methods have of course, a vested interest in selling products. It’s a matter of economics…what potential customer in their right mind is going to buy into a product that they’ve been told only offers to add an inch or so their penis in six months (even if it’s the truth), when there’s an alternative product - just a mouse click away - promising to add three inches to their puny little guy in just a couple of weeks (even if it’s a lie)?

Hence, as a result of this need to compete for customers, the unsuspecting public are subjected to a self-perpetuating and downward spiralling avalanche of marketing hype (and in many cases, utter bullshit).

‘Penis enlargement inflation’ I call it - in response to one product guaranteeing to add 2 inches in 4 weeks, the next guarantees to add 2.5 inches in 3 weeks, and in response to that the next guarantees to add 3 inches in two weeks etc. etc.

We should…some time very soon…get to a point where a product comes along that guarantees to transform our penises into 12 inch slabs of man-rock the second the FedEx man has left with a signature – a natural conclusion to future events that I pessimistically refer to as ‘Terminal Dick Overload’ or TDO for short.

Why you must avoid falling for false promises...

Apart from the fact that such exaggerated advertising is wrong, pure and simple, the real problem is that such tactics ultimately undermine people’s hopes and dreams.

What’s going to happen if you’re told that your nob’s going to sprout faster than a runner bean…and then it doesn’t? That’s right… you’re going to end up frustrated, resentful, disappointed, angry and with a bunch of other negative emotions. You’re going to give up under the assumption that you were suckered…that your first instincts were right - it really is impossible to enlarge your penis by any means other than surgery.

But if you’d been given an honest account from the start about the amount of effort you'd have to put in and length of time it would take to see results, as well as the levels of improvement you could expect, then that insight and realism would have enabled you to make an informed decision as to whether you’d likely have the motivation to keep going long enough to see results; and you’d also have had the opportunity to mentally prepared yourself for the journey ahead.

To successfully enlarge your penis you see, takes motivation…and one of the cornerstones of motivation is realism.


The Truth About the Gains You Can Expect...

Firstly, it’s important to make one thing abundantly clear from the outset – there are only three potential routes to a bigger penis – with penile exercise and traction sitting in the ‘alternative natural’ red corner, and their arch opponent, surgery, sitting in the blue.

All the ‘too good to be true’ stuff you see advertised – pills and patches, hypnosis (yes…someone really does try to make a living by selling CD’s that they claim will subconsciously jolt your penis into a spurt of growth), creams…whatever, it’s all nonsense…you have my word on it…and I really should know, I’ve been researching and writing about this stuff for over a decade.

So with that minor detail out of the way, let’s see what you can expect from the genuine three:

Penile Exercise…

The power to develop a bigger penis really does lie in your hands…as long as you have the drive and commitment to religiously stick to the program. The key to success with exercise you see is consistency - to maintain steady progress expect to have to commit yourself to 3 – 5 penile ‘workouts’ per week, each lasting from between 20 – 30 minutes.

If you can keep that level of consistency up for a variable number of months you will, in most instances, see some moderately impressive returns for your labours.

I use the word ‘variable’ to describe how long the entire process will take because the warning that so many things that claim to improve your life, health or physique use: ‘results may vary between individuals’ is particularly apt when it comes to penile exercise.

But through my own experience, and having followed with keen interest the anecdotal results reported by many other penile exercisers over the years, I can give you a broad idea of how long the process will take.

Done correctly, it takes anywhere from between 3 – 6 months to add an inch to both penile length and girth. It can take substantially longer (6 – 18 months) to reach your full size potential though – which in itself can vary from between about 1.5 – 3 inches of extra length and girth.

Does that sound like a long haul?

Well, taking even the most optimistic figures mentioned above I guess to a degree it is, and it certainly doesn’t live up to the claims of many websites. But for better or for worse, it’s the truth…and if you’ve got any intentions of going down the exercise route it’s important to do so with a strong sense of realism…because realism is the only thing that can prepare you for, as well as motivate you through, the workload ahead.

If this is all sounding a bit negative, then that’s not my intention. The fact is, I can say hand on heart that exercise works (which is a positive), that it produces pretty good results (which is a positive)…it just takes patience, motivation and commitment (which, I guess if you’re looking for a miracle solution, is a bit of a negative). Sorry man…but this isn’t something you should start on a misapprehension induced whim.

But it's a price worth paying...

Instead, one should remember, as so eloquently put by the immortal words of Booker T Washington, that ‘nothing ever comes to one, that is worth having, except as a result of hard work.’ To put it another way, if it was so easy to develop a monumentally impressive penis, then every Joe and his brother would be hung like a horse; which would in turn detract from those of us who’d worked so hard to achieve it.

It’s exclusivity that makes something desirable – and that exclusivity requires a degree of dedication to achieve. As such, you’re going to have to work hard to earn your membership to the exclusive ‘big dick club’.

Having said all that, a real bonus with penile exercise is that it quite quickly improves the quality of your erections by improving blood flow to the little fella. Because of this, you’ll often notice a size improvement in the first few weeks of exercise simply because your penis is left fit to bursting with its new and improved blood flow. This effect alone can be a motivational booster that spurs you on your journey to bigger and better things.


Penile Traction…

If undertaking a strict regime of penile exercise seems all a bit of a grind, then of course there’s always the option of using a traction device – a device that to a degree takes some of the work out of penile enlargement by mechanically stretching the old boy into submission.

A great thing about penile traction is that you don’t have to listen to any wishy-washy reports of ‘personal experiences’ or ‘anecdotal evidence’ to gauge its likely effectiveness – because this particular method of non-surgical method of penile enlargement has been subjected to a moderate amount of independent medical enquiry.

Penile traction devices, you see, were first developed by doctors in the mid 90’s to improve the gains that patient’s achieved through penile augmentation surgery. But of course, it wasn’t long before blokes were strapping their dicks into the things without first bothering with the surgery – and reporting some pretty impressive successes for their efforts. This in turn, spurred the medical community on to investigate further.

One has to be quite careful here though – because the manufacturers of the various ‘medical grade’ penile traction devices are astute enough to realise the value of a good corroboratory medical study for boosting sales; and have unsurprisingly commissioned a few studies of their own. Whilst it would be wrong to suggest that those studies might be biased or flawed because of any conflict of interests, below I’ll decided to only mention medical trials that have been completely independent of manufacturer input - therefore ensuring total accuracy and reliability.

Penile Traction: Independent Italian Studies…

Italians, like the French, are renowned as great lovers, and it must be something to do with the desire to maintain this national reputation that Italian doctors have taken such a keen interest in the study of penile traction – as both the studies mentioned below emanate from the country that also brought us those fine exports of romance…Casanova, sonnets, gondoliers and Sophia Loren.

International Journal of Impotence Research - 2002

The first independent study worth mentioning was undertaken by doctors at San Paolo Hospital in Milan in 2002 – the results of which were later published in the International Journal of Impotence Research. As part of the study, the researchers assessed the effectiveness of a penile traction regime consisting of 6 hours usage per day over a 4 month period.

The 9 men who took part in the trial achieved over the course of those 4 months an average stretched penile length increase (equivalent to erect penile length) of 1.8 cm (three quarters of an inch).

It could easily be argued that that wasn’t bad for 4 months work but interestingly the doctors also reported that the more motivated patients who’d taken it upon themselves to increase their daily wearing times to between 7 – 9 hours realised even greater gains in stretched penile length of 2.4 cm (1 inch) – 3.1 cm (1.3 inches).

In fact, the researcher’s observations that the gains each patient achieved seemed to be ‘directly proportional’ to the total number of hours they were prepared to wear the thing is now a well-accepted principle of penile traction – the general rule being that the more you wear it, the faster your gains will be.

British Journal of Urology - 2009

The second study, which was reported in the British Journal of Urology in 2009 and which quite nicely corroborates the first, involved 15 men who used penile traction for just 4 hours per day over a period of 6 months.

Supervised by doctors from the Department of Urology at San Giovanni Battista Hospital in Turin, these men achieved an average improvement of 2.3 cm (0.9 inches) in flaccid penile length and a 1.7 cm (0.7 inch) increase in their stretched flaccid penile length (SPL) – the SPL measurement being used again as a fairly accurate approximator of erect penile length.

Similar Results...

Now the really important thing to note from the results of the two studies mentioned above is the startling similarity between the reported ‘stretched flaccid length’ improvements and the total number of hours that the patients used traction:

In the 2002 study the patients used traction for 6 hours per day for 4 months (6 x 30 x 4 = 720 total hours wearing time). Those 720 hours equated to an average stretched flaccid length gain of 1.8 cm.

In the 2009 study, traction was used for a total of 4 hours per day over 6 months (4 x 30 x 6 = 720 total hours wearing time). In this study, those 720 hours produced an average stretched penile length improvement of 1.7 cm.

In other words, two separate independent studies conducted 7 years apart by two distinct groups of researchers came to pretty much the same conclusion: Traction does work to increase penis length, and it produces roughly uniform results determined by the total hours the device is used.

What’s more, in the 2009 study, the researchers took the time to find out whether the patients were satisfied with the results by asking them to rate from 0 – 3 their satisfaction with both their flaccid and erect length gains. In response, the patients reported an average satisfaction rate of 2.31 out of 3 for their flaccid penile length gains and 2.37 out of 3 for their erect length improvements.

Putting these results into perspective…

Again, the gains that these studies show can be achieved through penile traction might not be as impressive as you were hoping – or as good as you’d been led to believe from other sources…but they are genuine and verifiable (which is a great deal more than can be said for all those ‘review’ sites that claim 3 inch gains).

And it should also be remembered that the more time you’re prepared to invest in your traction usage, the better you can expect your results to be and the quicker you’ll achieve them. Yet another study undertaken in Denmark for example, reported average penile length gains of 1.1 inches in 15 men who used traction for 6 hours per day over six months (a total of 1100 hours usage).

Like exercise therefore, traction works…and works so effectively that researchers have called it a ‘minimally invasive…first line’ treatment option that should be seen as a credible alternative to surgery.

Like exercise though, traction takes time, patience and commitment to work its magic…a fact you should be in no doubt of before you begin. In the words of Gail Devers, the former Olympic athlete, ‘understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication.’


Surgical Penile Lengthening

Ok…so what do you do if don’t feel you have any of the qualities Gail Devers mentions above…or at least you can’t be bothered to apply them to developing a bigger penis?

The answer has to be to entrust your most prized organ to the hands of the surgeon right? and like a woman getting fake breast implants, realise an almost immediate physical improvement – hindered only by the time it takes to recover and heal.

It’s what a lot of surgeons would like you to believe, but again, to say it’s stretching the truth would be an understatement.

Not the whole story...

What surgeons often fail to mention, until they’ve taken your down payment at least, is that the success of surgery is in no small part down to your own hard work – because strangely enough, in the following healing months you’ll need to use penile traction religiously for most of your waking hours per day to have any chance of realising permanent gains.

The problem with penile lengthening surgery you see, is that the development of extremely inelastic internal scar tissue resulting from the surgical incision will, left unhindered, cause the penis to retract into the body – potentially resulting in what a recent study into surgical enlargement methods called ‘paradoxical penile shortening’. Whether the word ‘paradox’ aptly describes the nightmarish scenario of ending up with a dick shorter than it was before surgery is debatable – but what is for sure is that the only way to prevent this problem is to embrace the use of traction as if your very existence depended upon it.

Average Penile Length Increases From Surgery…

And if you do everything you were told to do, what goodies will you eventually be rewarded with for your efforts? Well…let’s look at the results of a couple of medical studies again:

In 2005 plastic surgeons from the Naval and Veterans Hospital of Athens, Greece, reported in the medical journal European Urology the results of 11 surgical penile lengthening procedures they’d performed over a three year period from 2000 to 2003. Ten months after undergoing their procedures, the researchers reported that the patients achieved on average a 1.6 cm (0.6 inch) improvement in stretched flaccid length.

The results of 42 surgical lengthening procedures undertaken by urologists at St Peter’s Andrology Centre, London, published the following were strikingly similar – average gains in stretched penis length of 1.3 cm (0.5 inches).

Hang on a second…

So if you undergo penile lengthening surgery you can, following months of healing and penile stretching, expect about half an inch or so improvement in your erect penis length. Alternatively, if you skip the surgery (and therefore don’t have to deal with the counteractive effects of scar tissue) and instead just go straight for the traction, you can expect to realise a more prominent erect length improvement of around three quarters of an inch in the same timeframe.

It’s no wonder then that a recent study suggested that lengthening surgery produced ‘unconvincing’ results. And to top that, a medical review published in the April 2011 edition of the British Journal of Urology went on to say that due to the ‘unacceptably high rate of complications’ associated with such surgery, together with the fact that traction used alone could produce improvements that were at least equal to surgery, traction should be seen as an ‘ideal first-line treatment option’.

Food for thought…if nothing else.


The Bottom Line…

What I hope you take away from this article is that enlarging your penis is a bit of a haul…whatever route you go down - whether that’s traction, exercise or surgery.

I’m not telling you this to put you off in any way, because the fact is it is most definitely a haul worth making. The reason I’m telling you this is to make sure that you have a realistic attitude from the start regarding the level of commitment and time it’ll take – because that’s one of the primary keys to success.

Those who fall by the wayside are usually the ones who’re suckered in by the marketing hype – and when they fail to achieve the unrealistic improvements they were promised on some dodgy review site or in some less than honest sales pitch, they give up, frustrated, angry and with dreams shattered.

Don’t let that happen to you. Be smart, be realistic, be positive, work at your goals with commitment and patience - and you will be rewarded. With this mind-set you can’t help but fulfil your ambitions of a bigger penis – and in turn, gain your rightful membership to that most exclusive of clubs…the ‘big dick club’.
